Raj Babbar (born June 23, 1952) is an Indian and Punjabi political and Film actor at the Indian National Congress. He has been a three-time member of the Lok Sabha and a two-time member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He was chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee until his resignation on March 21, 2018.
Political life
Raj Babbar entered politics rejoicing Janata Dal in 1989, led by V. P. Singh. He later joined the Samajdan Party and was elected to the Indian Parliament three times. From 1994 to 1999, he was a member of Rajya Sabha. He was suspended from the party in place in 2006. Later, he joined the Indian National Congress in 2008 and was elected for a fourth term. Controversy

Raj Babbar married Nadira Zaheer, daughter of famous theater personality Sajjad Zaheer. Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar are her children of Nadira. He married an actress Smita Patil who gave birth to their son Prateik Babbar. He started his own production at home; Babbar Movies Pvt. Ltd with his brother brother Kishan. Under the title, Karm Yodha (1992) and Kaash Aap Hamare Hote (2003), as well as the soap opera "Maharaja Ranjit Singh" (2010).
